The Gospel of Jesus Christ

As important as gathering on a weekend is, we believe church is far more than that. Church is God’s people centred around the person of the Gospel–Jesus Christ, and we participate in His life through what we call The Practices.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Good News that God saves sinners, not based on anything they have done or could ever do, but solely based on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross, where He suffered and died in our place for our sins.

Jesus’ sinless life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection won the victory over Satan, sin and death, and purchased our forgiveness from sin and justification before God. Because of Jesus’ death, we can have eternal life; because of His resurrection, we have fullness of life and power in this life and a hope for life into eternity.

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. This truth has implications for all of life and must be central to our proclamation, our lives and everything we do at Beulah.

The Gospel is not only the means by which people are saved, but also the truth and power by which people are sanctified; it is the truth of the Gospel that enables us to genuinely and joyfully do what is pleasing to God and to grow in progressive transformation into the image of Jesus, and the hope for eternal life.

For the love of Christ compels us, since we have reached this conclusion, that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Furthermore, as Jesus’ finished work on the cross changes us, we are no longer condemned to live for ourselves. We are now free to live for the one who loved us and gave Himself up for us, who is Jesus. No longer do we have to be controlled by our feelings and circumstances; now the love of Christ moves us. At Beulah, we are committed to doing everything we can to live in the light of this new and better reality.

Gather Together

We are a church family who gathers regularly.

John 1:12; Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:42-47

God is a community; Father, Son and Holy Spirit in complete oneness and mutual loving relationship and honour. Jesus came to bring people into the love relationship that God enjoys.

Gathering together with the church for worship is our appropriate response to God, His desire for us, and is important for our spiritual health.

Gathering together also means that we gather in community. This is our faithful way of living, inspiring, and helping each other to be active participants in the life of the church (which is Jesus’ body). Community life in Groups is the primary place in which we shape each other as disciples who make disciples.

Grow Together

We are followers of Jesus who grow spiritually.

John 15:1-8; Romans 12:2; Colossians 2:6-7

God is love. He is glorious, gracious, kind, holy, and perfect. God wants to restore us by growing us up in Christ.

Growing together means that each of us will take personal responsibility to mature in Christ, while also pointing one another to Jesus. By growing together, we will become a deep-rooted family, with our roots intertwined. This will happen as we regularly meet with Jesus and learn from Him through Bible reading, prayer, Christ-centred Group life, silence and solitude with Jesus, and other spiritual disciplines.

Bible Study Guide:
What Does it Mean to be Chosen?

The official companion study to Season 1 of The Chosen, the groundbreaking television series about the life of Jesus.

Being chosen by Jesus has beautiful and far-reaching implications—although it says even more about the Chooser than the choosees. We are loved because He’s love. We are saved because He’s merciful. We belong to the family of God because Jesus invites us, making the Bible and all its promises as true for us today as it was for God’s chosen nation.

What does it actually mean to be Chosen?

Give Together

We are a team who gives wholeheartedly.

Mark 10:45; Proverbs 3:9; Ephesians 2:10

God wants to restore us to His nature, to be servants, givers, stewards, and wholeheartedly generous.

Giving together means that we are aware of the time, abilities, and gifts he has given us, and we give to others from what God gives us. When we give of our time, talent, and treasure, not only do we invest in Jesus’ mission being expressed through the church, we also personally show where our greatest treasure is—that it is God first.

Go Together

We are multipliers who go intentionally.

Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 2 Timothy 2:2

God is a blessing God, an outward-looking God, and a sending God. He wants to restore us to a way of life where we join Him in what He is doing in the world.

Going together means that we let the Holy Spirit lead us to share normal life with other people—in our city, across our country, or internationally. This means inviting those we live, work, study, and play with into our lives and into places and events where God’s love and message is being experienced, shared, and communicated.
